Pretérito Perfecto Simple – Indicativo

The simple past tense is used to talk about past actions that were already completed, with clear beginnings or endings.

• El simple past tense is for actions that took place one time.

Nosotras fuimos al parque el domingo pasado.  ( We went to the park last Sunday.)

• Describing the context or setting of an action that was happening until it was interrupted by another new action. This second action will always be in the imperfect past tense.

Miré a Juan cuando caminaba por la calle. (I looked at Juan when I was walking down the street.)

The regular verbs, exemplified by cantar, beber, and vivir. The regular -ar verbs have their own set of endings, while the regular -er and -ir verbs share one set of endings.
